When I graduated from CHE in 2007 my goal was to be a part-time homeopath and to earn as much as I did from part-time teaching (I was an assistant head at a primary school 3 days per week).
It took me a while to get to that point, and a big part of my learning was about organising my schedule.
For years I’ve only offered appointments two days a week.
My clinic days have been Monday afternoon/evening and Tuesday morning. I try to get my casework and prescriptions done by the end of Tuesday afternoon, but I’ve found I usually need to continue on Wednesday morning.
Recently I decided to shift my Tuesday morning hours to Thursday afternoon instead.
My plan is to get my Monday cases finished by the end of Tuesday, and to take a break or work on something different on Wednesdays.
Hopefully I can process the Thursday casework and prescriptions all on the same day.
I’ll see how this goes and reassess at the end of the year.
I’m always reflecting and tweaking my practice to make it work better for me, and hopefully my clients too.

On or around the last day of each month I look bac

On or around the last day of each month I look back through my journal and my calendar to help me write a list of accomplishments for the past month. This includes my work and personal life - cases going well, boundaries I’ve managed to keep, books I’ve read, friends I’ve connected with, new recipes I’ve tried - there’s nothing too small to be included on the list!
Then - I look back at my word for the year, and the goals I set for myself in January. I ask myself how I’m doing with those? Have my priorities changed?
Finally I ask myself 3 questions:
1. Is there anything I need to stop doing?
2. Is there anything I need to start doing?
3. Is there anything I need to adjust?
This quote from ‘Essentialism’ by Greg McKeown reminds me of this process. It’s not easy to set boundaries, stop people-pleasing, and start saying no. But everything changes when you give yourself permission to be more selective. It all starts with making time for reflection. ✨ #homeopathy #homeopathystudent
